Fender Digital is a division of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (“FMIC”) located in Hollywood, CA. It is the newest division making apps, websites, platforms and tools to compliment the guitars, amps and audio gear that Fender makes. Building on this brand authenticity, Fender is building a digital ecosystem of products and interactive experiences for the new and experienced player alike. We are aiming to create products — digital and physical — that enable all players at every point in their musical journey.

Fender is an American icon — born in Southern California and with a worldwide influence extending beyond the studio and the stage. A Fender is more than an instrument; it is a cultural symbol that resonates across fashion and entertainment circles as well.

We’re looking for a product minded engineer to lead, create and maintain features for our suite of web applications. They will drive our understanding of web functionality and be a key contributor on a highly skilled, cross-functional team. The ideal candidate demonstrates an understanding of the client-side web ecosystem, participate in meaningful discussions, and work closely within a diverse, collaborative, and agile team.

About the Job:

  • Work closely with the product and design cohorts to design and develop new features and functionality for our web applications.
  • Create high-quality, testable, shippable code and help perform code reviews for teammates.
  • Help contribute to an overall web engineering roadmap, including research of the latest processes, frameworks, and user experience design.
  • Continuously improve our client-facing experience to bring that additional polish that sets us apart from our peers.
  • Ship new features and functionality across locales, in collaboration with product, marketing, IT, and executive teams.
  • You are comfortable working with remote teams.
  • You have a music background. Bonus if it’s with a fretted instrument.

What you need:

  • 4+ years of experience in a client web engineering role for a high-trafficked customer-facing single page application, including experience with Javascript, HTML, CSS, and how those interact together to create meaningful web experiences.
  • Have experience using Typescript.
  • Have experience shipping features that adhere to accessibility best practices.
  • Knowledge of the React ecosystem and how web engineering is changing to a Javascript/Typescript-first model.
  • Have experience with e2e testing.
  • Understanding and empathy for how end users interact with the web from their mobile devices, tablets, and desktops, and how that interaction drives implementation details.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with agile, high-quality engineering, design, and product teams.
  • A level of curiosity and a strong desire to learn, grow, and help drive an overall web engineering strategy with your teammates so our users get the best possible user experience.

Fender Digital is 100% remote, however, we do have an office to work out of for local employees. Said employees can choose the frequency in which they would like to work from the office.
