Overview 

DNA Genotek products are marketed worldwide and support thousands of customers as they achieve breakthroughs in genomic and microbiome research, in diagnostics laboratories, in the pharmaceutical industry, in companion animal genomics and in personalized medicine.  

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team for a 12-month contract starting April 1st, 2024. We are looking for a candidate with a broad understanding of all human resources functions, including employee relations, performance management, compensation, employment law, and learning and development. This role is a key member of HR business advisory team, will interact with senior members of the leadership team and have the opportunity to contribute to the Company’s HR practices and strategy globally.

 

The HR Generalist will act as a valued and trusted advisor, and manage the day-to-day human resources activities for select client groups within the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, the responsibility for the interpretation and administration of corporate policies and supporting managers with employee relations issues. The HR Generalist will also support the development and implementation of corporate HR programs and annual programs, including compensation and performance management, amongst others. Furthermore, the HR Generalist will support HR compliance and administrative tasks as required.

Snapshot of Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing HR advisory support to client groups and leaders.
  • Educate managers and employees on various HR policies, procedures, laws, benefits, and government regulations.
  • Work with HR team members to address and resolve complex employee relations issues as assigned.
  • Assist in conducting annual HR processes, including year-end performance and compensation planning.
  • Support initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Manage disability leaves and accommodation requests.
  • Assist in managing risks related to employee departures.  
  • Support learning and training initiatives linked to leadership development.
  • Ensure recommendations are aligned with DE&I principles and strategies and proactively work to remove bias HR processes and policies.
  • Make recommendations to the HR team for process improvements and updates to programs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies while ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Assist HR team on special projects or assignments as required.
  • Ensure that all recommendations to the business are aligned with applicable laws.
  • Other duties as required.

What You Bring:

  • Undergraduate or College degree in Human Resources Management, or a relevant Undergraduate or College degree coupled with relevant experience
  • CHRP or working towards CHRP designation considered an asset
  • 3-5 years of Human Resources experience with demonstrated working knowledge in key Human Resources functions including talent management, compensation, and employee relations
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with strong problem-solving skills.
