Overview:

The CDC Foundation seeks a Public Health Educator II/Respiratory and Vaccine Health Educator who will fulfill the health education needs of the Communicable Disease Branch’s Vaccine Preventable and Respiratory Diseases Programs of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The person in this position will develop and disseminate outreach and educational resources to prevent COVID-19, influenza, RSV and other viral respiratory diseases.

Qualifications:

· Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public health and public health education.

· Considerable knowledge of methods and techniques of disseminating health educational

information.

· Ability to conduct all phases of a comprehensive and collaborative community health assessment; experience in planning, implementing and evaluating environmental health education programs.

· Ability to coordinate the production and distribution of audience-specific materials.

· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with audiences having wide ranges of educational backgrounds.

· Master's degree in Public Health Education or in Public Health with a major in public health education from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in public health education; or Bachelor's degree with a major in health education from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement health education programs for a large geographical area or specific health initiatives.

· Provide consultation and guidance on health education strategies and initiatives.

· Supervise and oversee the educational components of health programs.

· Develop and disseminate outreach and educational resources to prevent COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and other viral respiratory diseases.

Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, in order to best support the State of North Carolina in their public health programming.

This position is currently a remote position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
